Lead Machine Learning Engineer - LLMs - Ramboll Tech

At Ramboll Tech, we believe innovation thrives in diverse, supportive environments where everyone can contribute their best ideas. As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will create cutting-edge AI solutions, mentor others, and foster a culture of collaboration and growth.

As the sparring partner for your product owners and Chapter lead, your role involves shaping the technical roadmap and implementing best practices within your product team ("Pod") and the global Chapter of ML Engineers. You will collaborate with global Chapter leads, subject matter experts, and other ML Engineers to deliver impactful AI solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  1. Technological Leadership: Define architectural patterns for scalable LLM pipelines, ensuring versioning, monitoring, and adherence to best practices. Drive integration of external knowledge bases and retrieval systems to augment LLM capabilities.
  2. Research and Development: Develop RAG architectures, organize complex domain-specific data (e.g., vector databases, knowledge graphs), and implement knowledge extraction. Benchmark and tune state-of-the-art LLMs for performance and cost efficiency. Incorporate trends like instruction tuning, RLHF, or LoRA fine-tuning. Embed domain-specific ontologies into NLP workflows.
  3. Evaluation and Optimization: Analyze models for quality, latency, sustainability, and cost; implement improvements. Own the ML-Ops for your Pod. Develop experiments for model evaluation and continuous improvement.
  4. Best Practices: Establish scalable coding standards for maintainable, production-ready systems.
  5. Team Support: Mentor ML engineers to foster growth.

HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED IN YOUR ROLE

We seek someone eager to make an impact and grow with us. You might be a great fit if you bring some of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • At least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Proven expertise with modern LLMs in production.
  • Leadership skills: Proven leadership in agile environments, strong communication, mentoring abilities.
  • LLM and RAG expertise: Building RAG architectures, integrating vector and graph databases.
  • Transformer and LLM architectures: Experience with GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, Llama, Falcon, Mistral.
  • Model performance and optimization: Fine-tuning and optimizing LLMs for quality, latency, sustainability, and cost.
  • Programming and NLP tools: Advanced Python, frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain.
  • MLOps and deployment: Docker, Kubernetes, Azure ML Studio, MLFlow.
  • Cloud and AI infrastructure: Experience with Azure Cloud for scalable deployment.
  • Databases and data platforms: SQL, NoSQL, Snowflake, Databricks.
