Description The FBI is dedicated to keeping sensitive law enforcement and intelligence data secure, and we are looking for a skilled Lead Linux Systems Administrator to support our cross domain system (CDS). Join a dedicated team responsible for the Operations & Maintenance of existing CDS systems, including the deployment of new systems, integration of technologies, and troubleshooting data flows.
In this role, you will work closely with the FBI's CDS staff and have immediate contact with customers. The team operates 24/7, ensuring continuous support at one of three designated FBI processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage and maintain systems in a VMware environment.
- Install and update COTS/GOTS and custom software, firmware, operating systems patches, and antivirus software.
- Monitor system performance, addressing potential issues proactively.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system problems, collaborating with vendors as needed.
- Respond to and resolve incident tickets in a timely manner.
- Run scripts to collect production system metrics and statistics.
- Set up and maintain user accounts.
- Support system security vulnerability scanning activities.
- Participate in program standup meetings to discuss system status and technical issues.
Basic Qualifications: - Experience working collaboratively in teams and assisting members in completing IT tasks.
- Bachelor's Degree with 12-15 years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree with 10-13 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive Linux system administration experience in a large and complex enterprise environment.
- Understanding of network administration and installation of networking appliances.
- Strong organizational skills, able to follow technical guides, and prioritize IT system maintenance and deployment tasks.
- Capability to assist in data center operations, including equipment installation and cable management.
- Experience with virtual environment administration.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and work on a range of technology issues.
- Independently handle responsibilities while sometimes being the sole Leidos representative working directly with the customer IT team.
- Familiarity with change management processes, including updating technical documentation.
- Demonstration of good judgment and effective communication skills.
- The candidate for this role must be able to lift up to 35lbs multiple times per day.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience testing complex IT systems.
- Background in system integration, testing, and debugging of COTS/GOTS systems.
- Advanced knowledge of virtual environment administration, including hypervisor management.
- Proficiency in installing, hardening, patching, and restoring Linux systems.
- Familiarity with system hardening techniques (STIGS).
- Experience with Apache Nifi.
- Understanding of networking, particularly server integration with routers and firewalls.
- Experience integrating cross domain solutions like guards and multi-level access systems.
- Ability to perform bare metal server builds and backup/restore procedures.
- Integrate with common IT support infrastructure services, including LDAP and Active Directory.
- Experience with security architecture and relevant assessment tools.
- Basic script development skills in languages such as shell script or Perl.

Pay Range: $112,450.00 - $203,275.00
