MAIE DAY is hiring for a Lead Line Cook

Much like the ancient tradition itself, Maie Day is a daily festival of food + community. Helmed by three-time James Beard-nominated chef Michael Fojtasek, the restaurant embraces all of the things people love about steakhouses: great steaks, sides & cocktails, but with its own South Congress style - casual, lively, and always a party.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Prepare and cook food items in accordance with standard recipes and menu specifications; ensure all dishes are of high quality, visually appealing, and cooked properly
  • Manage cooking times and the coordination of dishes to ensure timely service
  • See to each guest's special needs, including any noted allergies or dietary restrictions
  • Set up areas for service, ensuring that all necessary ingredients, equipment, and tools are available and
    in good working condition
  • Monitor and assist other line cooks and kitchen team members as needed
  • Provide training and guidance to junior culinary team members; teach proper cooking techniques, safety protocols, and best practices
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels of ingredients and supplies; coordinate with culinary management to place orders as needed to maintain stock
  • Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the outlet's quality and presentation standards; inspect food regularly to ensure consistency
  • Collaborate with the Chef team in menu planning and the development of new dishes
  • Address any issues or challenges that arise during service promptly and effectively
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow food safety standards and protocols
  • Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management at all times via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the outlet are met
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the efficient operation of the outlet, as directed by the chef, and attend relevant meetings as directed
WHO YOU ARE:
  • You have a state-issued food handling certification
  • You have 2+ years of related experience in a lead culinary role preferred
  • You take pride in your craft-you know the kitchen is a fast-paced, high-volume environment, and that's why you love it.
