Petroplan is working exclusively with a global energy company to staff the infrastructure of an exciting LNG production and export terminal mega-project. We are recruiting a talented Lead Instrument & Controls Engineer professional for a position based in Houston, TX who meets the following criteria:

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Responsibilities:

HSEQ
  • Ensure compliance with Company & Project and industry HSSE policies, standards, and regulations throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all design, construction, and maintenance activities comply with industry codes, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement integrity management plans for pipeline, compressor station, and metering infrastructure, including corrosion prevention, maintenance schedules, and inspection programs.
Leadership
  • Lead and mentor maintenance teams, fostering knowledge-sharing and adherence to best practices in electrical systems and reliability.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to ensure team competency and alignment with organizational goals.
Work Processes & Systems
  • Lead the design and engineering efforts for the pipeline, compressor station, and metering stations systems, encompassing route selection, material specifications, pressure calculations, and stress analysis.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed and accurate pipeline design plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the construction and installation phases, ensuring alignment with engineering drawings, adherence to quality standards, and strict compliance with safety protocols.
Technical
  • Provide technical guidance to resolve on-site challenges during construction and commissioning.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry standards, and best practices in instrumentation and controls to drive continuous improvement.
  • Recommend and implement innovations to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
  • Analyze pipeline data, including pressure, temperature, and flow rates, to identify anomalies, inefficiencies, or potential risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions and implement corrective actions.

Skills & Experience
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools and systems related to pipeline, compressor station, and metering station design.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities as a self-starter with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Experience with advanced pipeline monitoring systems and integrity assessment technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, IEC).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams and core engineering team.
Qualifications
  • 15 or more years of experience in engineering, with a focus on instrumentation and controls, preferably in the LNG or energy sector.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
