MAJOR FUNCTION: Lead the Construction/Manufacturing program by developing curriculum that provides quality instruction, allowing student to meet their objectives of having a career in manufacturing/construction. This position is located in Okeechobee County.

  • Effectively lead the Project Anchor Program specifically by creating an ideal learning environment, maintaining an appropriate balance of discipline, and be able to transfer knowledge to students. Provide a teaching environment (lecture, group, or Individual) targeting a diverse population resulting in the earning of knowledge and skills. Serve as the lead instructor to educate and train students to gain skills to work in the construction/manufacturing industry. Provide leadership in curriculum/program development and coordination of advisory committees. Teaches assigned manufacturing courses and labs to ensure experienced learning. Maintains written instructional standards, facilities instruction using alternative delivery methods as needed. Ensures students are prepared to sit for and attain industry certification.

  • Prepares course proposals, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools. Reviews and updates course outlines, textbooks, laboratories and course procedure sheets for building construction technology courses. Assists with curriculum updates and the construction of degree/certificate programs.

  • Maintains partnerships with local area employers to assist in arranging field experiences for program students. Collaborates with advisory council in support of manufacturing events and competitions. Assists with recruiting youth in the manufacturing industry.

  • Maintains an accurate inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies related to classroom/lab instruction. Ensures maintenance on all equipment in accordance with recommendations from supplier.


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent and five years of full-time construction and/or manufacturing experience. The bachelor's degree is preferred and may substitute for four (4) years of the required experience. Preference given to candidates with prior teaching experience and industry recognized certification in manufacturing.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Academic development. Construction and Manufacturing. Careers in Construction and Manufacturing. Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of field and/or discipline. Organizational and interpersonal skills to lead and facilitate partnership activities with students, community groups, consortia, and colleagues within the college. Effective team member, flexible, with strong human relations skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Be self-motivated, self-directed and creative. Skilled in the use of a personal computer, use of the Microsoft Suite, and using the World Wide Web for word processing and information gathering. Develop and implement strategies to market and promote the Construction/Manufacturing Program. Coordinate the delivery of adult education program instruction. Design instruction to achieve student learning outcomes as defined by the college and specific departments and programs. Conduct class meetings with professionalism and enthusiasm that promotes respect for the discipline and education. Use appropriate technologies and media to enhance learning. Maintain confidentiality of student records according to FERPA guidelines. Maintain necessary educational credentials and professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment.
