Overview

Job Purpose

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) is seeking a Front-End Lead Developer to join our front-end engineering team, drive technical strategy, and ensure the successful execution of projects for our public websites and internal applications. This role requires deep technical expertise in modern front-end frameworks, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the front-end architecture and development best practices.
  • Ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code using React, Tailwind, and modern front-end technologies.
  • Oversee Express with Node.js support where applicable.
  • Collaborate with back-end and middleware teams to optimize API consumption and performance.
  • Lead and mentor a team of senior front-end engineers, ensuring best practices in coding, performance, and accessibility.
  • Break down complex work into manageable tasks for efficient execution.
  • Conduct code reviews, evaluate pull requests, provide technical guidance, and ensure development standards are upheld.
  • Work closely with product managers, back-end developers, and business stakeholders to define project requirements and timelines.
  • Ensure smooth deployments and coordinate with DevOps teams on CI/CD strategies.
  • Advocate for front-end performance optimizations and security best practices.
  • Oversee front-end project execution, ensuring on-time delivery with high quality.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in development, deployment, and testing processes.
  • Maintain and improve the front-end development pipeline for efficiency and scalability.
Knowledge and Experience
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of React development.
  • Minimum of 2 years of TypeScript.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Node.js server-side web technologies.
  • Experience with a relational databases and SQL.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in advanced CSS and frameworks like Tailwind, Bootstrap, etc.
  • Experience with iterative/test driven development, code refactoring and continuous integration.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, state management (Redux, React Query), and authentication mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment strategies.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing front-end teams.
  • Proven ability to mentor, guide, and develop engineers.
  • Experience in an enterprise or high-scale environment, working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with CMS-based applications.
  • Knowledge of server-side rendering and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with monitoring tools, logging, and analytics for front-end applications.
