Global Technology Context

The Global Technology (GT) team at Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) is on a multi-year journey to modernize technical and digital products and platforms across all business lines. This role demands a visionary leader with a technical understanding of the range of resort operations technical products in solving complex business challenges. Proven success as a leader in recruiting, developing, and retaining technical talent on high performing teams is required. The incumbent is a proven thought leader, a consensus builder, and an integrator of people, processes, and technology.

Specific Job Summary

The Lead Engineer - Integration Services role supports MVW business lines globally. Develops technical specifications and software for MVW applications; providing end-to-end technical services to facilitate the effective delivery of optimal solutions that meets MVW business objectives. Responsible for developing software based on best practices, and DevOps capabilities. Provides oversight and ensures software developed by third party system integrators is compliant with MVW Technical Standards.

•  Manages time across multiple work streams/projects, by understanding the priorities and objectives, monitoring and reporting on the process, progress, and results. Works with cross-functional or extended teams.
•  Responds to, solves, and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk.
•  Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:
•  identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes.
•  participating in setting department operating plans.
•  achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

•  Performs other duties as appropriate. Specific Expected Contributions
•  Supports technical architects in performing research, analysis, and design of technical solutions to meet current and future user requirements.
•  Responsible for technical software design, development, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
•  Leads efforts to implement technical solutions from the design specifications.
•  Responsible for application technical design, code and system implementation.
•  Provides input/expertise for project estimation, work plan development and staffing.
•  May supervise a work team, providing input to performance review, mentoring on technology.
•  Partners with third-party vendor on-shore and off-shore teams to ensure their work products comply with MVW technical standards.
•  Continuously keeps up to date with new technology and IT processes.
•  Contributes to MVW Best Practices Library by creating or enhancing standards.
•  Contributes to enhancing DevOps capabilities.

Successful candidates should possess knowledge, experience and demonstrate leadership skills as follows:

Specific Candidate Profile

Education
•  Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Certifications Preferred
•  MuleSoft Developer Certification Experience
•  5-8 years of experience in application development, with a focus on the travel, hospitality, and timeshare industries desirable.
•  Strong technical skills, with expertise in applications such as contract management systems, reservation systems, property management systems, and timeshare management applications.
•  Proven experience implementing software solutions in the Integrations area especially using MuleSoft and Kafka.
•  Experience leading and mentoring technical teams, with a focus on developing talent and promoting a collaborative work environment.
•  Knowledge of security and compliance standards, particularly in the travel and hospitality sectors
•  ITIL certification and experience with IT service management practices is a plus.
•  Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on delivering high-quality services.
•  Must have strong customer service skills to ensure that all users are satisfied with the services provided by the team. Skills/Attributes

•  Solid understanding of microservices based Architecture including experience with designing and developing APIs on the MuleSoft ESB platform.
•  Experience in designing, developing server-side enterprise applications using Java/J2EE, Springboot, SQL, Kafka and similar technologies.
•  Strong emphasis on application of patterns and data structures, as appropriate.
•  Solid understanding of transaction management, thread safety and thread management, database design and query optimization.
•  Experienced in code optimization & performance tuning of various applications.
•  Experienced in delivering projects using waterfall and agile methodologies.
•  Demonstrated experience integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform environments.
•  Ability to analyze, absorb, advocate, and apply rapidly changing technologies and apply them as part of integrated solutions to business requirements.
•  Experience with common SDLC tools (Maven, Jenkins, Jira, Splunk, GitHub, OpenShift etc.).
