Apply knowledge in thermodynamics, fluids mechanics, and engineering design experience to size and select mechanical components for commercial CO2 transcritical refrigeration systems. Lead concept generation and development of intellectual property. Oversee CO2 rack prototypes and pilot builds. Ensure designs comply with codes and agency listings such as The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and Canadian Registration Number (CRN). Develop Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). Develop and launch refrigeration projects to achieve target savings. Lead the engineering efforts in New Product Development (NPD) and Design to Value (DTV) projects. Brainstorm new and innovative solutions in CO2 to achieve the product market specification. Develop a test plan and work with the Engineering Lab to validate solutions. Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) to specify components such as compressors, heat exchangers, sheet metal, plastic extrusions, and wiring. Act as engineering point of contact and provide technical inputs for software team. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on the fabrication plan for new products and provide solutions to issues during the build process. Collaborate with Quality department to identify end of line test requirements to make sure all defects are captured inside the factory before shipping to customer. Oversee the development of Computer Aided Design (CAD) solid models and engineering simulation of proposed concepts. Full time employment, Monday Friday, 40 hours per week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field and four (4) years of experience in commercial CO2 refrigeration projects. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field and six (6) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in commercial CO2 refrigeration projects. Of the required experience, must have four (4) years of experience in all of the following: Developing CO2 Refrigeration products; Applying principles of thermodynamics; Conducting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA); Applying Six Sigma processes to refrigeration product development; Conducting Vale Analysis and Value Engineering analysis (VA/VE); Utilizing the Stage Gate Process in refrigeration product development; Leading refrigeration product development; and Overseeing Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) processes.
