Job Summary:
As Lead Designer, you will champion and steward American Bible Society's visual identity across all platforms. In this strategic creative role, you'll oversee design for digital, print, and video content-ensuring compelling, mission-aligned storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Creative Services, you'll help shape and execute the organization's creative strategy, leading visual direction for key initiatives in fundraising, marketing, and PR. You'll also collaborate with the Sr. Director of Brand Activation to roll out a refreshed visual identity in alignment with our updated brand. You will apply best practices across nonprofit fundraising, direct response, social media, and web, producing high-impact design solutions that drive engagement and amplify the Bible cause in American culture. As a creative leader, you'll also equip internal teams with high-quality, on-brand assets that inspire and inform.

• Own and evolve ABS's visual identity, maintaining cohesion while refining guidelines based on audience insights, brand performance, and emerging design trends.
• Design creative assets that will set the standard for brand expression-shaping messaging platform and campaign identities, designing reports, brochures, and other high-impact materials.
• Lead the creative direction of key publications, including Record magazine, ensuring visual storytelling aligns with ABS's mission and brand voice.
• Equip internal teams and partners with adaptable brand tools and templates that make it easy to communicate clearly and consistently.
• Deliver compelling visual content across print, digital, and social channels, bringing ABS's message to life in every format.
• Expand creative expression through motion and emerging media, developing assets like animations, short-form video, and AI-enhanced visuals.
• Drive continuous innovation, staying ahead of creative tools, workflows, and technologies to enhance output and impact. Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or related field
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience as lead or senior designer in web and graphic design.
• Technical Skills:
• Ability to translate brand strategy into cohesive visual systems that drive consistency, clarity, and emotional resonance across all channels.
• Strength in leading creative direction-balancing hands-on design with oversight of internal and external contributors to ensure brand-aligned execution.
• Skill in collaborating across functions to align design with organizational goals, presenting creative ideas with clarity and strategic rationale
• Technical expertise in design across platforms and channels, including print and digital.
• Proficiency with web and graphic design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and Canva.
• Ability to create visual content for diverse digital platforms, including bespoke landing pages, Twitter/X, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Vibe, etc.
• Ability to tailor content to the needs and affinities of diverse audiences including mass donors, mid and major donors, ministry leaders, people curious about engaging with the Bible for the first time, and the general public.
• Experience with digital postproduction for print, color correction techniques, and knowledge of editing in multiple color profiles.
• Comprehensive understanding of visual assets including file formats, sizes, applications, and terminology. Key Competencies:
