TIAG is now hiring an experienced Data Scientist/SharePoint Architect to act as a technical team lead with a strong background in Computer Science, data analytics, and information visualization to oversee integrated Microsoft 365 solutions supporting Navy missions. While this role is not hands-on development, the ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of how data should be structured, visualized, and presented within SharePoint to support business intelligence, reporting, and performance monitoring. This individual will lead two key technical teams: a Data Analyst Team responsible for modeling, transforming, and interpreting data; and a SharePoint Development Team responsible for building intuitive digital experiences. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical foundation, the ability to correlate large datasets from multiple sources, and the skill to guide teams in delivering insights that drive mission decisions. This position is hybrid, reporting onsite 3 days per week at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. This position requires an active secret clearance to be considered, so US or Naturalized citizenship is a requirement. Responsibilities include:
• Lead and mentor two technical teams-Data Analysts and SharePoint Developers-ensuring coordinated delivery of integrated solutions.
• Guide solution architecture decisions, ensuring alignment between data models, dashboards, and SharePoint presentation layers.
• Serve as the key liaison with Navy leadership, translating business needs into technical requirements and ensuring solution clarity.
• Oversee task prioritization, resource planning, and delivery timelines in accordance with program objectives.
• Provide quality assurance oversight of visualizations and SharePoint integrations to ensure usability, performance, and security compliance.
• Understand and communicate best practices for presenting data in SharePoint Online using Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Dataverse.
• Guide the design of intuitive dashboards, reports, and visual storytelling tools to support Navy leadership decision-making.
• Direct the team in correlating large, diverse datasets from multiple sources, identifying patterns, relationships, and trends to support strategic recommendations.
• Review and validate data models, visualizations, and data flows-ensuring they are logical, accurate, and aligned with KPIs.
• Promote interoperability across tools like SharePoint, Power BI, SQL, and scripting environments (Python, R) ensure visualizations meet accessibility, security, and governance standards.
• Lead solution prototyping efforts with stakeholders and manage iterative feedback loops with both teams.
• Create and maintain weekly and monthly status reports to communicate progress, issues, and metrics to stakeholders.
• Develop and update comprehensive requirements documentation, including business and functional requirements.
• Produce user documentation such as user guides, administrator guides, and training materials to support solution adoption. Required Experience:
• U.S. Citizen with active DoD Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (i.e. information technology, data science, software or computer engineering, or mathematics). A postgraduate degree in computer science is preferred.
• 10+ years of technical experience, including 3+ years leading cross-functional teams (e.g., developers, analysts).
• Strong knowledge of data analytics principles, visualization, and user experience design - in Advana/Jupiter and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Proven ability to correlate and make sense of large, complex datasets, identifying actionable insights and communicating them clearly.
• Demonstrated understanding of: - Data modeling, transformation, and analysis - Dashboards and reporting (Power BI, Tableau, QLIK) - SharePoint Online presentation capabilities and web part integration - Modern collaboration and automation tools (Power Platform, REST/Graph APIs)
• Familiarity with AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) field, NLP, and predictive analytics is a plus.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Prior experience supporting DoD or U.S. Navy contracts is highly desirable.
