Role Overview

The Lead Data Scientist will lead strategic projects ensuring that they are planned, resourced, managed effectively, and above all meet their success criteria.


This is an ONSITE position 4 days/week, Monday through Thursday, Fridays are remote.


Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities


Data Strategy & Infrastructure Development

  • Develop a scalable data architecture to support business growth.
  • Establish data governance, quality controls, and integration processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across systems.
  • Identify and implement tools for data management, visualization, and automation.

Business & Financial Acumen

  • Understand key retail metrics such as revenue, margins, conversion rates, and inventory turnover.
  • Analyze customer behavior, segmentation, and purchasing trends to drive sales and retention.
  • Provide data-driven insights to optimize pricing, promotions, and merchandising strategies.
  • Translate business challenges into data questions and actionable recommendations.

Advanced Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Apply statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques where appropriate.
  • Perform root cause analysis to uncover hidden opportunities or risks.
  • Develop frameworks to track and improve sales performance and operational efficiency.
  • Create A/B testing methodologies to optimize marketing and product decisions.

Operational Dashboards & Reporting

  • Design and maintain dashboards that provide real-time insights into business performance.
  • Automate reporting to ensure leadership has timely and accurate data.
  • Develop KPI frameworks that align with company goals and strategic priorities.
  • Monitor and flag anomalies or emerging trends that require action.

Stakeholder Communication & Data Storytelling

  • Present complex data in a clear and actionable manner to executives and frontline teams.
  • Work cross-functionally to align analytics with business objectives.
  • Train and support teams in using data for decision-making.
  • Advocate for a data-driven culture by embedding insights into everyday operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven track record of building and scaling data analytics functions in a retail or e-commerce environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, R, or similar tools for data analysis.
  • Understanding of statistical methods, predictive modeling, and machine learning concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data into strategic insights.
  • Familiarity with customer segmentation, A/B testing, and growth analytics.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, information systems, statistics, or a similar field (masters preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and finance teams.
  • Prior experience implementing data governance and quality frameworks.
  • Experience in the retail fashion industry is a plus.


Travel

  • There is minimal anticipated travel required for this position.
  • Annual and Semi-Annual Company Conferences, usually in the DFW area
