About the Role We are on the hunt for a Lead Data Platform Engineer to spearhead the design and development of our next-generation Data Platform. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering for Data, you will be responsible for defining the technical vision of our data ecosystem, driving scalability, performance, and innovative solutions throughout the stack. This role involves building real-time streaming architectures and facilitating AI/ML workloads, making a substantial impact across all facets of modern data engineering.

Key Responsibilities - Architect a scalable data foundation utilizing Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake
- Develop real-time and batch data pipelines to support analytics, product features, and AI initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, security, compliance, and business leaders
- Lead data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing focused on low-latency and high-throughput
- Write high-quality, scalable code and provide mentorship to engineers towards achieving technical excellence
- Establish strong data governance, compliance, and monitoring practices
- Strategize and optimize infrastructure for performance, cost-effectiveness, and reliability
- Support the AI/ML platform, facilitating advanced analytics and machine learning workloads
- Drive architectural decisions and shape a long-term roadmap for the data platform
What You'll Need to Succeed - 8+ years of experience in data engineering or architecture, including 5+ years in a Principal Engineer capacity
- Demonstrated expertise in constructing large-scale data systems within fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Robust experience with Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and big data frameworks
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Background in data governance, security, and compliance practices
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven history of mentoring teams
- Ability to align technical strategy with overarching business objectives
- Contributions to the industry, such as open-source work, published research, or speaking engagements, are advantageous
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
