Job Overview Job Summary: Join our IT Operations team as a Lead Data Engineer, where your expertise will transform operational data into actionable insights that enhance efficiencies, optimize service performance, and improve decision-making processes. We seek a proactive data expert with a strong background in designing scalable data pipelines, developing analytical models, and working with extensive datasets.
What You Will Do: - Apply your expert knowledge of leading data technologies and operational best practices.
- Utilize data modeling techniques to effectively organize and transform data into valuable outputs, providing insightful recommendations.
- Design, build, automate, and maintain vital data tools and solutions such as pipelines and models to ensure data accessibility, reliability, and quality for end users.
- Research and propose new technologies and processes to support rapid scaling and future growth initiatives.
- Prioritize business needs and leadership inquiries while ensuring timely delivery of ad-hoc requests.
- Collaborate with business units and data teams to gather requirements for data access, processing, and reporting.
- Engage in architectural and technical design discussions to identify impactful process initiatives.
- Lead the implementation of data governance and access control, focusing on identifying and mitigating security risks.
- Participate in code reviews, peer inspections, and technical design specifications.
- Develop performance metrics to measure process success and facilitate cross-functional collaborations.
- Contribute to measurable process improvements by re-engineering key processes to align with our future-state vision.
- Document detailed design specifications clearly.
- Work effectively within a globally distributed team using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Basic Qualifications: - Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, particularly in data engineering.
- Experience interacting with product managers and stakeholders to understand data needs and build scalable data infrastructures.
- Strong SQL skills, including advanced coding techniques such as window functions and CTEs.
- Experience with data-driven architecture and systems, particularly Hadoop technologies like HDFS, Apache Spark, and Hive.
- Familiarity with performance metrics like Mean Minutes to Repair (MMTR) and Mean Time to Detect (MTTD).
- Hands-on experience with Object-Oriented programming languages, particularly Python, and proficiency in data processing packages like Pandas and NumPy.
- Experience working with large-scale distributed storage and database systems (SQL or NoSQL) and data warehousing architecture.
- Working knowledge of cloud technologies such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Familiarity with reporting tools like Tableau or Looker Studio.
Compensation: Estimated Pay Range: $144,500.00 - $145,600.00 USD
Specific compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and location.
