As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in transforming Capital One's data strategies and solutions.
What You'll Do: - Work collaboratively across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full-stack development tools.
- Collaborate with experienced developers in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems.
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, Scala, and Python alongside Open Source RDBMS, NoSQL databases, and Cloud-based data warehousing services such as Redshift and Snowflake.
- Stay current on technological trends, experiment with new technologies, engage with tech communities, and mentor fellow engineers.
- Partner with digital product managers to deliver impactful cloud-based solutions that empower millions to achieve financial success.
- Conduct unit tests and peer reviews to ensure your code is robust, well-designed, and optimized for performance.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree.
- At least 3 years of application development experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in big data technologies.
Preferred Qualifications: - 5+ years of application development experience involving Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
- 2+ years of experience with a public cloud environment (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
- 3+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL.
- 2+ years of experience working with real-time data and streaming applications.
- 2+ years of NoSQL implementation experience (MongoDB, Cassandra).
- 2+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake).
- 3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux, including basic commands and shell scripting.
- 2+ years working with Agile engineering practices.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are as follows: Chicago, IL: $144,200 - $164,600; McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000; New York, NY: $173,000 - $197,400; Plano, TX: $144,200 - $164,600; Richmond, VA: $144,200 - $164,600. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation.
