Description Leidos is seeking a talented Systems Engineer with a TS/SCI with polygraph to join our dynamic team supporting a high-stakes information technology (IT) contract. The ideal candidate will play a key role in deploying, installing, and maintaining critical IT infrastructure, including servers, routers, edge switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop hardware. As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to provide procedural guidance and technical direction, mentor less experienced team members, and ensure that complex assignments are completed efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for meeting tight deadlines while staying within budget. Please note that core hours are from 9:00AM - 3:00PM PST, and occasional weekend or after-hours support may be required for operational issues and critical deployments.
Key Responsibilities: - Travel up to 30-40% CONUS to support mission objectives.
- Evaluate data centers for new equipment installations.
- Install and configure equipment, including racks where necessary.
- Conduct onsite testing of systems and collaborate with fellow engineers.
- Manage the installation and connection of applicable cables.
- Oversee logistics for equipment pickup and delivery.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues effectively.
- Establish and modify physical connectivity for users across various networks.
- Set up and configure desktop hardware and software, including peripherals.
- Devise solutions to complex technical problems across multiple domains.
- Construct workstations according to established guidelines.
- Provide comprehensive support for software and hardware.
Required Qualifications: - A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field with at least 12 years of experience, OR a Master's degree with at least 10 years of experience. Consideration will also be given to candidates with 15+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
- An active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is mandatory.
- At least 12 years of practical engineering experience supporting technical programs.
- Solid knowledge of IP-related services including TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP.
- Experience with Cisco routers and switches installation and maintenance.
- Familiarity with commercial PBX systems and VOIP/data telephony.
- Knowledge of UPS and AC/DC power systems, along with CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable handling and fabrication skills.
- Experience with SONET rings and associated hardware is preferred.
- Proficient in using Remedy, VISIO, and MS Office.
