Position Summary:
An exceptional opportunity for an experienced and driven Lead Composite Design Engineer to play a vital role in the development of advanced composite structures for eVTOL aircraft. In this role, you'll lead the design and innovation of lightweight, high-integrity composite components to ensure optimal performance, manufacturability, and compliance with aerospace standards. You will work cross-functionally with top-tier teams and contribute directly to the success of revolutionary aircraft systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of composite structures and components with a focus on weight, strength, and operator experience
- Create accurate CAD models and engineering drawings for composite, plastic, and metal parts
- Collaborate with stress, manufacturing, and aerodynamic teams to optimize performance and manufacturability
- Conduct feasibility studies, material trade-offs, and process evaluations for advanced composite technologies
- Innovate with emerging materials, design tools, and advanced manufacturing processes
- Perform structural validation and work with stress engineers to meet safety and certification requirements
- Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related Engineering discipline
- 8+ years of experience in composite design within aerospace, aviation, or automotive industries
- Proficient in CATIA 3DEX and composite modeling tools
- In-depth understanding of composite materials, laminate theory, and structural analysis
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods and aerospace design best practices
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering functions and clearly communicate complex ideas
