We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lead Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing construction company in Portland, Oregon. This leadership role is pivotal in overseeing the full accounts payable cycle, managing a team, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of all vendor invoices and payments. The ideal candidate will possess strong supervisory skills, a deep understanding of construction accounting practices, and proficiency in relevant accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development:
Supervise, train, and mentor the accounts payable team to ensure efficient and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
Invoice & Payment Processing:
Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including receipt, verification, and payment of vendor invoices.
Ensure compliance with company policies and contractual terms, including lien release procedures and general ledger coding.
Vendor Relations:
Act as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, resolving discrepancies and maintaining positive relationships.
Negotiate payment terms and manage vendor accounts to optimize cash flow
Reconciliation & Reporting:
Compliance & Internal Controls:
System Management & Process Improvement:
Utilize accounting software (e.g., CMiC, NetSuite) to manage accounts payable functions.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Associates degree or equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of accounts payable experience, with at least 2 years in a lead role within the construction industry.
Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., CMiC, Sage, Newstar) is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
