We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Accountant (Controller-level) to join our team. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with deep expertise in construction and real estate accounting, as well as familiarity with a variety of other industries. You will oversee and guide financial operations for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Oversight

  • Supervise daily accounting functions for multiple clients.
  • Provide hands-on bookkeeping support as needed, including sales and use tax reporting.
  • Train and guide internal accounting teams and client stakeholders on best practices.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and deliver accurate financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide timely reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Deliver strategic financial guidance tailored to each client's business goals.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Develop and manage client budgets and forecasts.
  • Create financial models and provide actionable insights.

Audit Support & Internal Controls

  • Coordinate external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal control systems.

Compliance & Tax Filings

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee or assist with timely tax filings and other compliance requirements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and lead a team of client accountants.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development.

Technology & Systems

  • Leverage accounting software to optimize processes.
  • Experience with construction accounting platforms (e.g., Sage 300 CRE) is a strong plus.

Qualifications

  • CPA Required: Active Certified Public Accountant license.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in construction and real estate industries.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks, Sage 300 CRE (or similar), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Leadership: Strong team leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Analytical Mindset: High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Hybrid Flexibility: Comfortable working in a mixed remote/on-site environment.
