WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS POSITION

Position Summary

BYU Law School is seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic Events Manager to join our External Relations team. This role supports the Assistant Dean and Director of External Relations, coordinating key alumni and donor-facing initiatives. The Events Manager will lead the planning and execution of major events, foster strong relationships with alumni, students, and donors, and assist in fundraising and outreach efforts that support the Law School's mission. Key Responsibilities
  • Event Leadership: Plan and execute signature alumni and school events, including class reunions, tailgates, the Scholarship Banquet, and service events like Wills for Heroes.
  • Project Management: Manage a variety of internal and external initiatives; maintain strong ties with alumni, students, and donors; create engaging presentation materials.
  • Alumni Board Support: Coordinate board and committee meetings, manage communications, and support board-driven projects.
  • Fundraising Support: Maintain CRM data, organize donor meetings, and support key giving initiatives.
  • Community Engagement: Represent BYU Law at campus and community events, and promote service opportunities that strengthen the school's reputation.
Expected weekly work hours: Average of 28 hours weekly

WHAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS ROLE?

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree OR 3 years of related experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in dealing with senior professionals, major donors, and volunteer leaders
  • Highly developed organization and efficiency skills, able to multitask, as well as to see projects through to fruiting
  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and other general office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative in designing and implementing programs and facilitating events
  • Demonstrate ability to see projects and events through to successful completion, including being on time and on budge
  • Willingness to work hours as needed, including some evenings and weekends
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree AND 2 or more years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and design applications
  • Previous experience managing individuals or programs
  • Experience effectively using a CRM data, including communications, record-keeping, and marketing innovation
  • Working knowledge of BYU Law or a related academic institution's processes and procedures

Compensation Range

Actual compensation based on education and experience
$28.20 - $35.78
