Description Job Description Job Title: Laser Specialist Salary Grade: 2 FLSA: Non-Exempt Physical Grade: 2 Job Status: Full-Time Travel Required: N/A Revision Date: January 3, 2025 Reports To: Production Supervisor PURPOSE OF POSITION Program and operate a laser-operated machine to produce products based on company and customer specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. More specifically, the employee will: + Operate and program laser cutter using manual and computer controls. + Load and unload materials accurately and precisely according to machine specifications. + Maximize use of raw materials by assuring minimal scrap or waste. + Verify accuracy of parts and components according to company and customer specifications using various measuring instruments, prints, and schedules. + Sort and organize produced parts based on size. + Monitor filtration system. + Perform general housekeeping and maintenance on equipment. + Coordinate production of parts and components with other departments. + Stay informed of and track any known materials that need to be ordered in area. + Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments within the work area. + Regular, consistent attendance. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. + Be able to demonstrate proficiency in reviewing and understanding electronic or written blueprints and/or specifications. + Ability to accurately utilize measuring devices including but not limited to a tape measure, micrometer, caliper, and dial indicator. + Possess basic computer skills. + Must be able to work independently to complete work in a timely manner. + Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities are required. + Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems using training, experience, and reasoning skills. + Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written. + Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. + Knowledge of machine tools. EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE - COMPUTER SKILLS + High school diploma or a general education degree (GED); or + One to three months related experience and/or training; or + Equivalent combination of education and experience. + Prior experience with CNC's or laser-operated equipment preferred. TRAINING - CERTIFICATIONS - LICENSES + Forklift License + Continually participate in additional training related to the job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee: + Must be able to frequently stoop/bend. + Must be able to frequently use hands and arms. + Must be able to frequently stand and walk. + Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of equipment. + Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds of equipment with assist available. ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY + The noise level in the work environment is LOUD. + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear alarms of equipment, and the ability to hear instructions from others. + Steel toe shoes, safety glasses, protective gloves, grinding shield, hoist, and hearing protection required.
