Role Description
MSW is seeking a talented and motivated Land Use Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join our Land Use, Zoning, and Redevelopment practice group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in New Jersey land use law and a proven track record of handling matters involving the Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL), Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (LRHL), and the Long Term Tax Exemption (LTTE) Law. Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients before municipal planning and zoning boards, governing bodies, and other governmental agencies.
- Prepare and present land use applications, including site plan, subdivision, variance, and redevelopment applications.
- Advise clients on compliance with the Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL), Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (LRHL), and Long Term Tax Exemption (LTTE) Law.
- Draft and negotiate redevelopment agreements, financial agreements, and related documents.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on land use, zoning, and redevelopment issues.
- Collaborate with other attorneys, planners, engineers, and consultants to advance client objectives.
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments affecting land use and redevelopment in New Jersey.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New Jersey Bar in good standing
- 3-5 years of experience practicing New Jersey land use law
- In-depth knowledge of the Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL), Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (LRHL), and Long Term Tax Exemption (LTTE) Law
- Experience representing clients before planning and zoning boards
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
