Position: Land Surveyor in Training
Location: Chattanooga, TN
Duration: Fulltime permanent
Salary: DOE
This position is responsible for working under a licensed surveyor and assisting on various projects in both public and private sectors. The LSIT will also coordinate with civil engineers, landscape architects, and other land surveyors to assist clients in developing commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist in production of control, boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys
- Prepare reports detailing legal boundaries and additional survey information that will be presented to clients
- Collaborate with project managers, crews, and government agencies when necessary.
- Resolve uncomplicated boundaries with minimal oversight
- Applies knowledge of survey, boundary, state, and county laws, statutes, and regulations to projects
- Generate contour maps and alignments
- Conduct project related research
- Write legal descriptions for a variety of legal instruments
- Additional related duties as needed
Qualifications - Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certificate issued by any state board of surveyors

- Associate or Bachelors Degree in Survey, Geomatics, GIS, or a related field
- 4-6+ years of office related experience
- Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within land surveying
- Experience working under a licensed professional surveyor
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work with project deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work closely in a team environment
- Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient with GEOPAK, MicroStation, and Open Roads
- Experience with LiDAR capabilities such as 3D laser scanning and point cloud registration
