Job DescriptionPrimary Purpose:
As an active member of a crew this position will play a role in performing street restoration work for jobs such as, but not limited to, gas and electric infrastructure maintenance, new construction and emergency response. All crew persons are expected to take direction from crew leaders. All crew persons are expected to adapt to crew leader work styles and must be able to perform repetitive tasks for, at times, extended work periods. Crew persons shall perform unskilled manual labor duties utilizing pneumatic tools and/or basic digging tools, power tools and compaction equipment such as rollers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Digging holes and ditches using tools such as shovels and clay diggers; breaking up pavement with pneumatic jack hammers (up to 90 lbs.); loading broken pavement and excess dirt into trucks; and secure tools, and equipment from truck.
- Backfilling excavation trenches, assisting with concrete finishing and performing asphalt paving and other construction related clean-up work.
- After initial training, crew persons must be able to recognize a variety of paving materials tools, and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsSchedule:100% In Field; work location could be Metro or Northeast.
Required Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid California driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Those with prior construction experience will be given first consideration.
- Candidates must have basic mechanical aptitude and experience, demonstrated ability to absorb formal training and schooling, and be physically able to do heavy manual labor with good safety habits.
- Must be able to utilize OSHA approved and standard company equipment.
This position requires the successful passing of the Field Technical Assessment and additional assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior street repair experience strongly preferred, to include:
- Concrete (smoothing, leveling, finishing)
- Asphalt (raking, spreading, and compacting)
- Sawcutting experience
