Insight Global is looking to hire a laboratory technician for a client of ours in the New Orleans, LO area.
Below are general responsibilities. Departments this individual will vary based on skill set coming in - Volatiles, Inorganics, Oil Chemistry.
- Complete laboratory testing on all incoming samples in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner; ensure sample turnaround time goals are met or exceeded.
- Sample preparation, processing detection sponges, plate reading.
- Responsible for preparatory processing of incoming samples, in compliance with all applicable standard operating procedures and quality systems.
- Care and maintenance of equipment associated with this testing.
Specific Assignments
- Prepare test samples in accordance with standard operating procedure and applicable quality control procedures.
- Clean workplace and equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and general housekeeping requirements.
- Provide feedback to the department manager for suggested improvement of analytical methods.
- Monitor and meet TAT requirements for sample workflow, and keep the department manager informed when capacity constraints are anticipated that may delay TAT.
- Record supplies taken from stockroom in logbook, and note any supplies that may need ordering and/or rush delivery.
- Maintain assigned equipment according to standard operating procedures. Perform any and all operational qualifications prior to analysis according to standard operating procedures.>
Desired Traits:
- Prior experience in a laboratory or processing environment is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory practices or willingness to be trained.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail, excellent work ethic, self sufficient mindset.
Plusses:
- AS or BS Degree in Microbiology, Food Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in plating, plate reading, and sample preparation.
Compensation:
Salary Range for this position is: $16 - $18/hour.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
