Description
Ardent is looking for a creative and collaborative team member to join our research and development team as a Laboratory Technician. This role will be responsible for running our processing equipment and custom manufacturing equipment, specifically our pilot fiber coating line. This will include inventory management, maintenance of the equipment and data collection. This role is ideal for a Laboratory Technician with 1-2 years of experience, who is detailed oriented, adept at performing a combination of tasks, has the ability to perform basic data analysis with control charts as well as basic mechanical skills to perform routine maintenance.
What You Will Be Doing:- Running Pilot Equipment: Use the documented SOPs to set up and run the pilot equipment, while following all the safety and quality protocols. Candidate should be comfortable working with flammable solvents while diligently following documented safety protocols. Tasks will also include making solutions for coating.
- Quality Control: Measurement and documentation of the quality parameters for the solutions, incoming materials and processed materials.
- Scheduling: Prioritizing and scheduling time on the pilot machines based on the needs of the team members and project goals.
- Inventory Management: Keeping track of consumables and placing orders in a timely manner.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Recording data from the pilot equipment and plotting control charts to monitor machine performance. Other types data analyses will also be needed.
- Pilot Equipment Maintenance: Manage machine spare parts inventory. Carry out simple maintenance tasks and coordinate more complex maintenance.
- Technical Support for Scale-up: Provide technical support to the design engineers when there is a need to scale up the pilot equipment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document experimental procedures and results accurately. Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal meetings and external forums.
- Present Scientific Results: Present scientific results to a diverse audience through data analysis and visualizations, with guidance from senior team members.
What You Bring to the Table:- Associate Degree or higher in a related field.
- Willing to work with or have experience with flammable solvent use, pressurized gases, and general laboratory safety.
- Proficiency in doing calculations for solution preparation and other operating parameters for the pilot equipment
- Small volume manufacturing and gas/liquid delivery systems.
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies or applications, coatings, polymer processing, and chemical processing.
- Focus and attention to detail.
- Ability to think and react quickly in dynamic situations.
- Proficient in record keeping and documentation.
- Self-starter: Ability to translate the organization's needs to results, without needing constant input.
- Safety Minded: Follows all safety protocols and also develops new protocols based on observations.
Bonus Points:- 1-2 years' experience in a manufacturing or R&D role.
- Experience in equipment maintenance and calibration, machine control, and general machining (mill and lathe).
- Skills in mechanical and electrical assembly.
- Familiarity in a testing environment.
