Hello. My client is currently looking for an Associate Scientist at the moment for our Melville NY laboratory. This is a project based role that will be open for about 6 mos. working Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.
ACCOUNTABILITES:
- Learns the usage of raw materials and the basic fundamentals of the technical development of new products.
- Learns the process of new product development torn laboratory prototype submissions through First Production support.
- Actively develops commercially feasible new products or modifies existing ones. Projects are of moderate complexity.
- Assures that all testing to guarantee a marketable final product is on schedule.
- Determines stability of the formulations and ensures commercial feasibility.
- Keeps laboratory management informed of project progress. May make project direction recommendations.
- Stays abreast of developments in the cosmetic field and continues to demonstrate performance improvement.
- Interfaces with all R&D departments, QA, Technical Services, Manufacturing and NY Products Department.
- Masters the fundamentals of cosmetic technology.
- Will have a concentration of effort around our ELCV brands and will eventually be responsible for the prototyping to support in-house initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four year (B.S. or B.A.) Chemistry, Biology or Biochemistry degree is required
- 0-1+ year of experience desired
- Microsoft office, Excel
- Statistical analysis skills a plus
- Good working knowledge of analytical techniques required.
- Solid awareness and practice of safe lab procedures.
- Basic knowledge of chemistry techniques (GMP) and knowledge of: Titration, Pipetting, pH, Viscosity and making volumetric solutions.
- Must be able to communicate clearly both orally and in written formats.
- Problem solving skills a plus.
- Knowledge of cosmetic ingredients a plus.
- Must be flexible to work different shifts and overtime as needed.
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
