Description:
- Manage the maintenance of all laboratory areas and equipment. The Operations Laboratory Technician will coordinate with laboratory asset team to schedule technician visits for instrument PM, calibration, and general service.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for laboratory-related emergencies (leaks, spills, fires, etc.), providing timely and effective responses. The Operations Laboratory Technician will work closely with engineering, security, and facilities to ensure the laboratory is a safe and conducive work environment.
- Organize and create schedules, calendars, and training protocols for all laboratory equipment.
- Coordinate initial laboratory safety training for new employees to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Oversee the laboratory budget, including the ordering and procurement of all laboratory equipment and supplies. This includes maintaining various POU (point of use) re-stocking areas in the lab, tracking expenditures, and comparing vendor pricing.
- Verify that all supplies and equipment are received promptly to ensure on-time payment.
- Integrate policies and procedures in accordance with EHS guidelines for the proper storage and handling of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
- Act as the lead liaison between scientists and vendors for supply availability, project collaborations, and service contracts.
- Identify and implement innovative techniques and procedures to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.
Degree Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, with a focus in Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry strongly recommended.
- At least 6 months of post-undergraduate experience working in a clinical or research laboratory setting is required.
