Job title: Laboratory Technician I

Job Description:
o Communication- Ability to listen, communicate issues, take notes.
o Proactiveness- Without having to be told, someone who is always looking for things to do to stay productive, learn something new, help someone else out, etc.
o Ability to learn and adapt- Much of the work we do in the lab doesn't have a 'user manual'. They should be able to pick up new skills/tasks quickly, easily, and correctly.
Key Responsibilities:
• Works following laboratory and chemical safety guidelines and escalates safety-related issues.
• Maintains working schedule with positive attitude and provides a minimum of 48 hours notice for time off.
• Proactiveness in staying productive and takes initiative in looking for ways to contribute between tasks or studies.
• Fabricate contact lenses or performs other repetitive tasks daily in a lab following a detailed manufacturing process (lenses will be made manually by hand and/or with semi-automated equipment).
• Communicates to the team immediately when process or quality issues are encountered.
• Flexibility to quickly change work based on business needs.
• Asks questions to understand the manufacturing process and takes feedback on potential improvements from the team.
• Performs record keeping duties in conformance Good Documentation Practices (GDP) to meet quality and accuracy requirements. Key Performance Indicators:
• Personal skills: be a team player with strong verbal and written communication skills, interacts well with various teams and takes own initiative to complete tasks
• Ability to stay focused on tasks and practice good time management skills
• High attention to detail and following defined process
• Interacts with others to provide clear, straightforward, effective and accurate communication
• PC Skills: MS Office
Working hours:
• 40 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM - 5:00 AM, some flexibility required depending on business needs.
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
