Pathnostics is looking for a hands-on laboratory leader (supervisor or manager level) who is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of designated areas, ensuring TAT is met, and upholding Pathnostics' commitment to deliver the highest standard of quality and service. The position ensures effective operation of all laboratory equipment, training and leadership of laboratory testing personnel, oversees procurement of supplies, troubleshoots non-conformances, and ensures adherence to all safety and regulatory standards as well as the laboratory's QMS.
This role will provide a high level of support to leadership and extend supervisory coverage during the swing shift (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm) from Tuesday-Saturday. We are also open to candidates who wish to work an overnight shift or start later than 3 pm. After competency is achieved, this role has flexibility to work alternating Saturday shifts, coverage permitting. Candidate must be flexible according to evolving business needs.
This position will report for work on-site daily to our Lake Mary, FL, laboratory. An active FL license is required to qualify for relocation assistance if needed.

Candidates Must Have:
- Active ASCP Certification and FL Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required, Supervisor licensure is preferred
- Prior experience as a lead technologist or supervisor in a high-complexity CLIA environment is required
- At least 5 years of experience in a CAP/CLIA laboratory
- Bachelor's degree in a physical, chemical, or biological science is required

Duties:
- Responsible for all aspects of lab services within his/her designated department, including training and competency of lab personnel, quality management, safety, inventory management, machine maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
- Performs the duties of a General Supervisor as described in 493.1463 of 42 CFR 493.1463.
- If delegated by the Medical Director, assumes responsibility as technical supervisor for a designated department.
- Implements new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; monitoring progress.
- Resolves problems by consulting with pathologists, other laboratory managers, technical coordinators, laboratory directors, and customer care team.
- Performs all duties in accordance with CAP/CLIA guidelines, Pathnostics' Ethics and Compliance Program, and all applicable safety regulations.
- Assists with drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance with CAP/CLIA guidelines.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance, calibration, and re-verification of laboratory instruments according to established procedures.
- Ensures inventory process is completed and laboratory supplies are maintained at the appropriate levels.
- Maintains medical laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Responsible for ensuring all laboratory personnel meet federal and state requirements for ongoing training, education, and testing requirements.
- Oversees performance management of laboratory personnel, including annual and semi-annual performance appraisals (in addition to competency assessment).
- Coordinates regularly scheduled team meetings with department leads and staff; establishes other communication pathways and reviews for effectiveness.
- Ensures proficiency testing is completed according to SOPs and CAP/CLIA guidelines; immediately investigates any discovered nonconformance or educational challenge.
- Maintains medical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; identifying peak and slack periods; making operational or staffing adjustments.
- Ensures that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications and;
- In the event of non-conformances, ensures that results of test examinations are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
