Job Summary/Basic Function:About This Role:
Manage, organize, and supervise all aspects of teaching and research laboratory support. Maintenance of chemicals, laboratories and instrumentation.
What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities:
- Procurement of materials related to teaching and research such as purchase of glassware and chemicals, proper storage, and inventory of instruments.
- Support research grant proposal submission and follow up, help to maintain research/teaching instrumentation.
- Support departmental computer systems and shared instrumentation.
- Supervise personnel providing chemistry/biochemistry laboratory services.
- Provide training and guidance in work responsibilities; plan, assign, and direct work; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Help prepare payroll budget authorizations; retrieve, track, and approve timesheets for laboratory employees.
- Establish and enforce proper disposal of materials, instruments, and sensitive documents.
- Solve problems related to daily laboratory management.
- Coordinate inter-departmental and inter-college laboratory activities.
- Attend Chemistry and Biochemistry department meetings as requested by the Department Chair.

Advanced knowledge in safety related to chemistry and instrumentation
Physical Requirements: Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.

Benefits - Lamar University Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's in chemistry, biology, or related science field.
- 1 year of relevant experience in laboratory management, including supervising personnel, managing projects, and overseeing budgets.
- 1 year of experience handling chemical waste ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related science field is preferred.
- 2 or more years of relevant experience in maintaining instrumentation.
