A leading nonprofit healthcare provider in south central Washington, is seeking an experienced Hospital Laboratory Manager to oversee overall operations for an acute care hospital laboratory.

The Hospital Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the strategic planning, staffing, and day-to-day management of on-site laboratory departments including Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Services. The Lab Manager will ensure operational excellence across clinical, technical, administrative, regulatory, and financial areas to deliver high-quality, efficient laboratory services that meet patient needs and adhere to best practices.

ASCP Laboratory Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop objectives and operational plans for laboratory services aligned with organizational standards
  • Oversee all laboratory personnel management including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Maintain regulated, safe, and compliant laboratory environments adhering to policies and regulations
  • Manage laboratory budgets, financial performance, and supply/inventory controls
  • Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory workflows and services
  • Collaborate across the healthcare system to support growth of outreach/outpatient testing volumes
  • Evaluate and integrate new testing methodologies, instrumentation, and information systems
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and adherence to organizational mission/values

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or related scientific discipline
  • Experience managing high-complexity hospital/clinical laboratories
  • Current certification as Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist
  • Excellent leadership, communication, budgeting and problem-solving abilities
  • Working knowledge of regulations governing laboratory operations (CLIA, CAP, OSHA, etc.)
  • Strong commitment to quality patient care and customer service
