Employee and Labor Relations Representative

FPC Bangor is working with a manufacturer of specialty and packaging papers with an urgent need of an on-site Labor Relations Representative. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR & Labor Representative is responsible for assisting with labor relations and human resources matters, gathering and maintaining data and records for contract and policy development, investigations, negotiations, and hourly new hire process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Handles routine labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements.
  2. Serves as the initial contact for intake and assessment of Union complaints.
  3. Analyzes and interprets the intent, spirit, and terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreements ("CBA").
  4. Participates in the Company's long-term planning and implementation of the CBA as it relates to labor relations.
  5. Compiles information and develops statistical reports on all matters pertaining to the CBA. Develops recommendations consistent with the CBA and current labor practices under regulations and statutes. Develops and writes policy based on approved recommendations.
  6. Participates in labor contract negotiations and identifies bargaining issues.
  7. Assists with hiring, and termination of bargaining unit employees and recordkeeping for affirmative action compliance.
  8. Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.
  9. Assists with preparation of documents and records for meetings with labor organizations as well as attends meetings.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • 5+ years' experience in a union environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
