Location: West Union, IA
Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Minimum of Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 2 years in the specialty area.
- Previous experience working in a Critical Access Hospital is beneficial.
Charting Experience:
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems.
- EPIC experience is beneficial.
Skills Required:
- Ability to work independently in Labor & Delivery, Post-partum, and Medical/Surgical units.
- Capability to function in a charge nurse capacity as back-up.
- Previous charge experience is required.
Unit Information:
- A 25-bed Critical Access Hospital with specific units:
- Med/Surg: 20 beds
- OB: 4 LDRP, 1 post-partum/c-section prep
- Average Daily Census:
- Med/Surg: 8-10 patients, majority are skilled care level
- OB: Approximately 85-90 deliveries per year
- Nurse to Patient Ratio:
- OB (Low risk): 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for early labor, post-partum (couplets) up to 1:3 (1:3 is rare)
- Med/Surg: Up to 1:5, typical is 1:3-4
Additional Requirements:
- Hard working, resilient, and able to manage change well.
- Social candidates who are willing to assist/train less experienced nurses.
- Assertive and confident in skills.
- Team player.
Scrub Information:
- OB Scrubs are provided by the hospital. Staff choice for Med/Surg.
Additional Information:
- Candidates must start the medical portion of compliance within 48 hours of an accepted offer.
Education Requirement:
- Associate Degree or Certificate preferred.
