The Department of Clinical Laboratories, Blood Bank at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Instructional Support Assistant / Lab Worker. The successful candidate will: Transport laboratory specimens and supplies, including logging and tracking of specimens in laboratory information systems. Provide ancillary support for the operation of the laboratories. Coordinate and manage the receipt and distribution of daily mail and other records among the laboratory sections. Participate in departmental and hospital requirements of quality management, quality control, patient safety, continuing education and other aspects, as needed. Ensure the recording, maintenance and retrieval of records in compliance with hospital and departmental policies. Process/handle specimens in central receiving area. Log specimens via lis (cerner). Participate in all aspects of quality assurance, quality control, patient safety, continuing education and other aspects as needed. Perform additional duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Hospital/Laboratory settings. Prior work experience using computer training skill, i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel.
