Job Description:

As a Manufacturing Engineer at L3Harris Technologies, you will play a key role in developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing processes in a high-stakes, defense-focused production environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design Engineering, Quality, Project Management, and Manufacturing Operations, to enhance manufacturing efficiencies, ensure product quality, and support our commitment to delivering reliable and innovative defense solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Review design layouts and engineering drawings; make recommendations for changes or modifications to facilitate manufacturing of assembly operations and reduction of defects.
  • Develop and maintain specific work instructions and procedures, including photos, visual aids to support manufacturing of product that conforms to drawing requirements and design specifications.
  • Prepare operations sheets and assembly/manufacturing instructions, showing sequence of operations, details of each operation, machine, tooling and fixturing to be used, inspection instructions and test requirements.
  • Monitor assembly/electronic/manufacturing instruction sheets and operations sheets to continuously improve the efficiency of the Operations Dept. Support Operations Managers with labor and cost analysis.
  • Support maintenance repair operations of legacy products including evaluation of test results and generation of repair bill of materials.
  • Incorporate engineering change orders, advanced engineering change orders, notices of revision and approved engineering change proposals in operations sheets and assembly instructions.
  • Build and maintain a role in supporting cross functional internal and external teams with Engineering, Operations, Program Management Office and The Customer as required.
  • Monitor material non-conformance activity and develop corrective/preventative action plans as required.
  • Prepare production status reports and other reports or information as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Clearance if desired, ability to travel, working extended hours.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-1 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or related role, preferably in a defense or aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations, including ITAR, ISO, and MIL-STD.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Familiarity with CAD software and experience designing tooling and fixtures
  • Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of defense industry-specific requirements and standards.
  • Active Security Clearance
