Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Kubernetes Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of containerized infrastructure in support of our core services. This role is responsible for architecting highly available, secure, and scalable Kubernetes clusters in cloud and on-prem environments, ensuring alignment with DevOps and CI/CD best practices. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Kubernetes ecosystem tools, infrastructure-as-code, and container orchestration patterns, with the ability to mentor teams and define best practices for platform reliability and performance.

Duties/Responsibilities: - Architect, implement, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based Kubernetes clusters
- Manage Kubernetes cluster lifecycle with configuration management tools
- Manage Kubernetes applications and configuration deployments using GitOps tools
- Build and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions for both Kubernetes infrastructure and applications within
- Provide real-time support for both Kubernetes infrastructure and applications running in production environments
- Implement and manage security best practices, including authentication, encryption, and SSL/TLS
- Configure persistent storage for use within Kubernetes clusters, utilizing best practices
- Help developer teams with Kubernetes application readiness
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines in support of dev and prod environments

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications: - High School diploma or GED-equivalent required
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems or similar degree program preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of experience working with Kubernetes
- Knowledge of Linux operating system principles, networking fundamentals, and systems management
- Experience building Kubernetes clusters both on-premises (data center) and in public cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure welcome)
- Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools: Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
- Experience with Kubernetes service connectivity using gateway api and ingress.
- Experience with Kubernetes packaging and deployments using Helm, Argo CD, and Flux CD
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS and GCP
- Experience with Kubernetes networking including CNI providers such as Cilium and Calico
- In-depth knowledge of monitoring and observability tools: AlertManager, Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry, Splunk
- Experience with identity and secrets tools such as cert-manager and vault.
- Experience with Kubernetes security features such as pod security standards, control-plane audit logging, and network policies.
- Experience with modern DevOps programming languages such as Python and Go a plus

- Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
