We currently have an opening for a Kitchen Supervisor.

Summary: Ensures the effective operation of all kitchen functions. Assists in the cooperation and communication of the kitchen with other departments. Supervises and maintains the ability to assist all kitchen associates with job responsibilities. Adheres to all company policies and procedures and maintain kitchen standards in absence of Sous Chef. Be reliable, have a good attendance record, and set example for other employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Other duties may be assigned.

Report to work on time and in uniform for each scheduled shift. Present a neat, clean and professional appearance at all times.

Eliminates safety hazards and report all injuries and accidents to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.

Attends all departmental and Resort meetings as scheduled.

Maintains kitchen during Sous Chef's day(s) off and vacations.

Orders from purveyors (produce, dry goods, food). Ensures order is covered on day off with Purchasing department.

Have a working knowledge and ability to take inventory.

Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all work surfaces, coolers, floors and equipment in work area.

Maintains food quality in accordance with standard company and property recipes and procedures.

Aids in cross training and development of all food production associates.

Maintains and supervises good housekeeping practices in all food areas in accordance with company policy.

Ensures that all associates follow safe work practices.

Supervises property breakdown and usage of all left-over foods.

Checks Daily Production Sheets to ensure that they are being used correctly.

Constantly spot-checks food and service to ensure that food served meets our portion and quality standards. Checks and records temperature to ensure proper standards.

Administers and reports to Chef on duty any associate problems in conjunction with company policies. Be familiar with the company Commitment to Correct Policy.

Maintains a positive attitude towards the Resort and the job being performed.

Maintains a safe attitude, conducts all job duties in a safe manner, and reports all work related accidents immediately.

Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other Resort associates to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.

Carries out all reasonable requests by management which the Associate is capable of performing.

Knows and demonstrates the Coral Hospitality 3 Steps of Service and the 15 Basics of Service in the performance of daily responsibilities.

The Resort functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours per day. All employees must realize this fact and be aware that it may be necessary to adjust the employee's work schedule from his/her accustomed shift due to business demands.

Knows and abides by all departmental, Coral Hospitality and Resort policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 9-10 employees in the Kitchen. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
