JOB SUMMARY:
Full Time - Must be flexible on hours The Kitchen Supervisor is to prepare and serve meals on time in accordance with state and federal regulations and in compliance with facility procedures and policies to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
To perform this job, an individual must accomplish each essential function satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Follow menus as provided by assigned supervisor
• Review menus prior to preparation of food
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in accordance with portion control procedures, as well as for therapeutic diets in accordance with scheduled menus and sanitary regulations
• Prepare all foods with proper amount of seasoning and with proper handling of therapeutic diets and facility time schedule
• Assist in developing methods to determine quality and quantity of food served
• Inspect special diet trays to ensure accuracy, portion control, appealing layout, etc.
• Evaluate kitchen and dietary area, etc., for upkeep, supply control, cleanliness, and safety
• Complete forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc. to ensure control of food, equipment, and supplies
• Report disrepair of dietary equipment
• Assist in monitoring to ensure that dietary personnel wear protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious waste or body fluids
• Complete cleaning assignments as scheduled and directed
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Assist in orientation, training and scheduling of employees as directed
• Attend educational classes as assigned by supervisor
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions, and other information relating to residents, employees and facility
• Follow the established universal precautions and isolation procedures
• Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in residents' personal and health care needs
• Must possess good communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English
• Intermediate knowledge of mathematics and recordkeeping
• Skilled technical knowledge of one or more scientific disciplines required to analyze, interpret and diagnose technical information within established procedures
• Successful completion of required training
• Handle multiple priorities effectively

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience:
o Minimum of one (1) year of dietary experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a hospital, skilled nursing facility or other medical facility preferred
• License/Certification/Education:
o High school diploma or equivalent
o Dietary certification is preferred

SCOPE AND LEVEL OF WORK:
• Complexity: Work assignment is performed within an established framework under general instructions but requires simultaneous coordination of assigned functions or projects in various stages of completion.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise, train, and support direct reports

• Occasionally needs manager's direction due to extraordinary circumstances
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Ability to lift to 25 pounds
• Subject to standing, walking, sitting, pulling and use of hands
• Frequent exposure to odors and biohazards, and exposure to safety risks associated with food preparation, cooking, and involvement in a health care facility
• Must be able to read and speak in English
• Work may be performed in a long-term care facility; well-lit; comfortable temperature-controlled
• Position will require flexible hours, occasional weekend work or occasional unscheduled overtime
• Travel may be required
