SUMMARY

Develops, coordinates and implements the summer and holiday activity programs available to children of members and hotel guests in partnership with Kids Club/Recreation Manager and Supervisor. Follows AAA 4 Diamond service standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Confers with Manager and Supervisor to coordinate a calendar of social events, programs and activities for junior members and hotel guests ages three through ten, during summer months.
  • Confers with parents regarding activities, policies and enrollment procedures.
  • Arranges medical attention for an ill or injured child in accordance with parental and/or company instructions.
  • Provides quality service to guests that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Purchases supplies for planned activities and approved events.
  • Based on availability, also works with Manager and Supervisor of Kids Club/Recreation on coordination of Easter, Halloween and Christmas children's events.
  • Lead, inspire, promote positivity and support all team members with your presence and supervision
  • Ensure that our team members are set up for success during their shifts, inspect what you expect.
  • Follow-up with our team members that their Daily Checklist has been completed per shift
  • Oversee the Kids Club/Recreation and Recreation/Pool attendant's operation, communicate any areas of opportunity to leadership
  • Other duties may be assigned

OUTCOME

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club Inc. operates in a very family-oriented environment. Primarily during the summer months, and holiday periods, the Club attracts a high volume of children. A solid activities program for these children is therefore imperative and can limit the amount of abuse to certain areas of the property. The Kids Club/Recreation Manager will create positive member and guest impressions of the total organization by planning and implementing a variety of activities for the children which are fun, creative, active and cost-effective. Satisfied children make satisfied parents, as well as potential future members and hotel guests.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Is responsible for the supervision, coordination and evaluation of the Kids Club/Recreation and Recreation/Pool Attendants. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent in education or related industry preferred; or minimum of five years related experience and/or training in equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in a camp or school setting required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in English before guests, children, parents, managers, or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

All employees in this position must obtain and maintain current CPR & First Aid Training Card.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

INTERACTION

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will interact frequently with the adult members and apartment guests, as well as the children of members and apartment guests. This employee will also interact frequently with the membership services, front desk staff, catering staff and beach crew members, as well as occasional interaction with the housekeeping and engineering staffs. The employee must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with both internal and external customers mentioned.

SCHEDULING

This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated unless you were hired for a specific shift, as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
