DescriptionMission Contribution:To provide world class customer service and assist the store in reaching sales goals which will enable the agency to provide more employment opportunities and services to the community.
Function:Assists the Store Manager by helping with the supervision of employees, trainees and community service workers and seeing that the store opens and closes properly. This is a developmental position in order to develop the knowledge and skills needed to be an Assistant Manager.
Essential Functions: - Ensures World Class donor and customer service, greeting customers within 10 seconds and providing friendly service and information, thanking customers at the end of a sale and inviting them back.
- Opens and closes the store as scheduled.
- Supervises, works with and motivates store employees to reach assigned production guidelines.
- Receives, prices, displays and sells store merchandise, as well as delegates others to do the same.
- Uses cash register to total sales, accepts payment, and authorizes voids, returns, exchanges and credit for merchandise.
- Records and balances cash register receipts and records store transactions, daily, or as scheduled.
- Adequately stocks and maintains interior and exterior of store in an attractive manner.
- Ensures the proper rotation of all store merchandise.
- Assists in store's loss control by watching customers and employees and reporting suspicious activity to the manager or director.
- Ensures the cleanliness and safeness of the store and/or donation stations by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting and cleaning bathrooms or delegating tasks to store employees.
- Observes safety procedures and personnel policies and ensures compliance by employees, community service workers and trainees.
- Supervises and trains staff giving them oral communications regarding work performance as necessary.
- Assists in conducting workplace orientations for new hires as needed.
- Initiates and completes paperwork required in day-to-day operations of the store, in the absence of the store manager.
- Checks garments for possible salvage material and ensures that little or no salvage is put out on the sales floor.
- Reaches production guidelines, as assigned.
- Sorts clothes into either salvage or sellable merchandise containers, with less than 5% salvage items being sorted into sellable merchandise.
- Transfers racks from the back room to the sales floor when rack is full.
- Places garments and small wares on the proper floor racks and shelves and restocks when racks get low or shelves look empty.
- Removes empty hangers from the racks on the sales floor and returns them to the proper place in the production area, based on the type of hanger.
- Ensures a clean and empty work station at the end of each shift.
- Pulls and rotates store merchandise as instructed by supervisor or manager.
- Keeps aisles free from debris in the production and sales floor area.
- Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures.
Marginal Duties as Assigned:- Checks, sorts and prices electrical equipment and small wares and prepares it for display on the sales floor.
- Greets donors and assists them in bringing donations into the store and issues receipts, as necessary.
- After audit by manager on duty, disposes of trash and un-usable merchandise into outside dumpster and breaks down cardboard boxes and stores in proper area.
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements: - High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- Prior work experience in the service industry preferred.
- Prior experience operating a cash register preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. with assistance occasionally.
- Ability to push equipment on wheels weighing 50 lbs. to 150 lbs.
- Ability to engage in frequent bending, stretching, stooping and prolonged standing, walking and twisting.
- Ability to use fingers, hands and wrists, repetitively, while hanging and sorting clothes and merchandise.
