About the role

The Bleaching Operator is primarily responsible for receiving oil from the refinery department, drying under vacuum, treating oil with various earth materials and then processing the oil thru pressurized filter presses all while maintaining high quality standards throughout. The Operator also heats tank and railcars, takes samples at various stages of the process, enters data into OIS and ITS, and cleans and operates several presses critical to the bleaching process. The Bleaching Operator spends a considerable amount of time dropping earth bags into tanks and also cleaning the waste that's created in the department afterwards.

The performance of the duties outlinedbelow must be carried out within the mission of the Company: to become the preferred supplier of fats& oils, shortening flakes, shortening chips, vegetable oil and soybean oilin the Food Industry. In pursuit of this mission, you will endeavor to providesuperior product quality and superior customer service at a competitive price.

Safety & Environmental Performance

Identify high-risk safety/productivity issues and help to remedy them.
Support full plant wide compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0 accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses.
Encourage employees to look for ways to improve safety and production processes.
Prevention and timely reporting of any environmental issues.
Adhere to GMP's and other work procedures as to assure product quality and consistency to our customers.
Prevent injuries by encouraging employees to work safely

Work Requirements

Heat, hook up, sample, and pull in rail cars and various storages
Fill bleachers with oil from refinery, railcars, and various storages
Dump clay into pre-coat tank
Take samples to the lab every 2 hours
Notify refinery and supervisors if product results do not meet standards
Report any leaks on pumps, machines and lines to supervisor
Make sure all valves and lines are set to correct tank
Clean presses at regular intervals
Power wash screens whenever they are plugged up.
Perform any and all tasks assigned to you by a member of your management team that is approved by your supervisor.
Clean and dump different hoppers in department and overall upkeep
Sample and label product correctly
Record all movements on designated reports, OIS and ITS

Cost Control
Reduce the amount of rework by participating in employee involvement, process improvement and adherence to process guidelines
Ensure work is completed to customers specifications
Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing waste in your daily work
About you

Experience in machines and industrial knowledge
High school diploma or GED preferred
Must be able to climb, bend and stoop, lift 50 lbs frequently and stand/walk for long periods of time.
Recordkeeping, reading temperature gauges, monitoring storage volume and content is required.
