Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead the Junior Varsity (J.V) football team for the upcoming seasonal period. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the game, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This position will focus on developing players' skills, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a successful and enjoyable football experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement practice plans that enhance player skills and team strategies.
- Organize and conduct J.V. football practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
- Coach and mentor student-athletes in both individual and team skills, promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Collaborate with the head coach and other coaching staff to align on team goals and strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of players for the J.V. football program.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player development.
- Ensure compliance with all school and athletic policies, as well as state and national regulations regarding high school football.
- Plan and participate in team events, including games, tournaments, and community outreach activities.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and academic success.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of football techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, school staff, and parents.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not currently certified.
- Must pass a background check and adhere to all school district policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the football season.
- A commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field is a plus.
