Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position is to provide supervision of youth in the community who have been adjudicated for misdemeanor and felony level offenses on behalf of the courts and the supervised release panel. The incumbent will be required to work non-traditional hours in conjunction with traditional hours. The incumbent will also provide case management and visit clients in the field.
How does it get done?
Provides supervision of juveniles by conducting home, school and office visits to ensure compliance with court ordered probation and supervised release requirements. Enter data into Family Automated Client Tracking System (FACTS). JPO I will collaborate with community resources, such as law enforcement agencies, school and service providers. Provide random UA's, putting on GPS units and monitoring movements.
Who are the customers?
Clients are at risk youth and youth who have committed delinquent acts.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a high degree of integrity, be responsible and honest and motivated to provide guidance and role modeling to at-risk and delinquent youth Incumbents must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, concise and thorough manner and have college level writing skills Incumbents will be required to write case notes, assessments and other reports and documents Have a minimum of two years working with troubled, at-risk or delinquent youth
Minimum Qualification
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in sociology, psychology, corrections, guidance and counseling, social work, police science, criminal justice, juvenile justice, education, public administration, or closely related field. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required education.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting. Late hours, weekend and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Some travel may be required. The following conditions are also applicable:
Incumbents must have a telephone and must be willing to give this phone number to the Director of Field Services.
Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid driver's license at all times.
Incumbents must be willing to be frequently on-call 24 hours a day. Work is in an office setting, client's homes and institutions.
Incumbents must be willing to travel, and be willing to work shifts, holidays, weekends and call back for emergencies.
Incumbents must be willing to work with offenders that have high-risk behaviors and require intervention or services.
Incumbents must be willing to work with potential risk from offenders who are possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol or otherwise distressed.
