SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of clerical duties to enhance the efficient administration of the Jury system; and ensures that jurors are available in the Courtroom when required in accordance with state statutes and Court policies and procedures. Also performs general clerical tasks, which requires working knowledge of Court procedures, customer-service skills, and the exercise of discretion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Responds to inquiries and complaints from Judges regarding assigned jurors, and resolves issues to ensure effective operations.
• Conducts Juror Orientation.
• Records information in court files.
• Assists Jury management with recording juror attendance in computer systems.
• Responds to specific juror payroll inquiries pertaining but not limited to incorrect days of service, amount of juror check, returned checks, etc.
• Manages the transmission of pertinent data obtained from forms for the district courts, as well as electronically submits a list of qualified jurors to each district court.
• Assists with the review of felony convictions indicated on questionnaire forms to determine respondent's qualification or basis for excusal.
• Functions as a department liaison regarding outreach programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Licenses and Certifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of successful, clerical experience.
• Experience commensurate with the job that demonstrates the required skills and competencies may be considered in lieu of education requirement(s).
• If an employee drives on behalf of the Court, the employee must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license, no fault insurance and access to a vehicle to use in the performance of assigned duties.
• Experience using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and relevant software and systems.

• Ability to deal calmly and effectively in high stress situations.

• Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.

• Working knowledge of court processes, procedures, and modern jury management.
• Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to achieve positive outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey information, explain complex procedures clearly to diverse audiences, and obtain necessary clarification.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with judges, co-workers, and the public, demonstrating courtesy, professionalism, and the capacity to handle stressful situations calmly.
• Skill in managing personal workload and contributing to team deadlines.
• Proficiency in operating standard office equipment and relevant software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, particularly when interacting with individuals who may be under duress.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Additional Requirements:
• Successful completion of criminal and IV-D background check, fingerprinting and rechecks.
