Job Title: Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach School: North Middlesex Regional High School Location: 19 Main St, Townsend, MA 01469 Job Type: Fall 2025 Season Job Description: North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach to support the growth and development of the junior varsity volleyball team. The JV coach will work closely with the head coach to implement training programs, assist in game-day operations, and provide mentorship to student-athletes. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about developing volleyball skills, building a positive team culture, and fostering a love for the game in athletes. The JV Girls Volleyball Coach will focus on developing individual skills, team dynamics, and sportsmanship while encouraging the personal growth of student-athletes both on and off the court. Key Responsibilities: Coaching & Skill Development: Assist the head coach in developing and executing practice plans that focus on building individual volleyball skills, teamwork, and game strategy. Provide individual and group instruction during practices to help players improve their technical skills, including serving, passing, setting, hitting, and defense. Foster a competitive but supportive environment where all players are encouraged to grow and develop their skills. Focus on building player confidence and helping them transition to the varsity level. Game Day Preparation & Support: Assist with team preparation on game days, including warm-ups, game strategies, and player rotations. Provide guidance and feedback during games to help athletes improve their performance and maintain focus. Work closely with the head coach to manage substitutions, in-game adjustments, and team dynamics. Team Management & Culture: Assist in creating a positive and inclusive team environment where players feel valued, respected, and motivated. Promote good sportsmanship, communication, and teamwork within the team. Support athletes in balancing academics and athletics, emphasizing the importance of discipline, time management, and responsibility. Communication & Collaboration: Communicate effectively with players, parents, and the head coach regarding team progress, expectations, and upcoming events. Work closely with the head coach to ensure the team's goals, strategies, and coaching philosophies are aligned. Maintain clear communication with the athletic department and other staff to ensure the successful operation of the program. Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all team activities and practices adhere to North Middlesex School District policies and MIAA guidelines. Prioritize safety by following concussion management protocols and injury prevention guidelines during practices and games. Ensure all players meet MIAA eligibility requirements and maintain academic standards. Professional Development: Continuously work to improve coaching techniques and volleyball knowledge by attending relevant clinics, workshops, and training. Stay current with new volleyball strategies, rules, and trends to keep the program competitive and player-focused. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or middle school level, with a focus on volleyball skills and team development. Strong understanding of volleyball fundamentals, game strategies, and team dynamics. Ability to work with athletes of varying skill levels and promote a positive, supportive environment. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to balance academic and athletic priorities for student-athletes. Must meet all district and MIAA coaching requirements, including Concussion Training (NFHS or CDC-approved), First Aid & CPR Certification, and CORI/SORI Background Check. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field. Previous playing experience at the high school or collegiate level. Previous coaching experience at the high school level. Knowledge of injury prevention and fitness techniques relevant to volleyball. Ability to work with a diverse group of student-athletes and foster an inclusive environment. Salary: Per NMRSD Coach Stipend Schedule.
