SUMMARY

Learning to execute pricing strategies that drive McCoy's price image and maximize profitable market share growth for the business. Use pricing related tools and processes to optimize pricing across all McCoy's locations. Responsible for reviews and analyses of historical data to measure results and develop future pricing and gross margin improvements. Analyze internal and external data to develop, communicate and implement optimal pricing decisions. Measure impacts associated with various pricing scenarios for Merchant review. I nteract with Teams from Merchandising, Information Services, and McCoy's Store Operations


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned .

  • Price Optimization: Learn competitive intelligence, develop pricing scenarios, and make recommendations to Merchants in support of category strategies. Provide financial analysis and analytical support to the Merchant community to assist group in making better pricing decisions. Provide fact-based guidance to McCoy's Merchants in selecting pricing strategies/rules that result in increased sales, profit, and/or market share
  • Execute Category Pricing Strategies: Present options, facilitate decisions, and implement approved pricing strategies, business rules and strategic pricing plan for all categories, working collaboratively across the Merchandising organization
    • Execute the price optimization process within defined rules and strategies (by category/by zone)
    • Document and update key pricing strategies and rules.
    • Evaluate effectiveness of category pricing strategies, identify gaps and opportunities, and recommend refinements to strategy
  • Deliver Competitive Intelligence: Collect competitor prices via internet, telephone and in-person. Analyze competitor pricing data provided via online web crawling service. Monitor competition and cost changes and analyze results to suggest changes to individual prices and potential changes to pricing strategies. Participate in identification of competitor price zones, and definition of competitive indexes and standardized pricing rules.
    • Execute "what if" scenarios before finalizing and submitting approved prices to McCoy's POS system. Support the development and implementation of price tests to validate category strategies.
    • Analyze and track progress on strategic pricing decisions and the strategic pricing plan
    • Contribute to development of category analytical tools that encompass pricing data, consumer trends, customer segmentation, and competitor insights ensuring pricing integrity, streamlined processes and quality execution
  • General Responsibilities: Monitor the pricing calendar to balance workload in the stores and improve price execution. Coordinate the day-to-day pricing activities within each merchandise category
    • Proactively communicate relevant information as necessary to appropriate levels in the organization, formally and informally, in both written and oral forms
    • Work on special projects, ad hoc analysis, and initiatives related to pricing strategies
    • Support Merchants' pricing strategy presentations and communication to merchandising leadership
    • Foster a collaborative partnership with the McCoy's Store Operations Teams
    • Follows Standard Operating Procedures when carrying out position responsibilities
    • Attends and participates in department meetings, training sessions, and company-sponsored programs as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years of applicable merchandising analysis experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), IBM Content Manager and MAC21

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Retail experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing Tools (Cognos, BI10+ or related tools)

WORK AVAILABILITY

  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined by management
  • Must be regularly available and willing to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week or such other hours per day or hours per week as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires occasional travel with overnight stays
  • Must meet driver's license requirements as required by the Company
  • Must be able to legally obtain a rental vehicle in all states in which the company does business
  • Must have current auto liability insurance
