Job Overview
- As a Junior Microbiology Analyst you will coordinate and execute a variety of technical and administrative activities to support the day-to-day operations of the a Regional Microbiology Laboratory.
- You will be a crucial member of the Regional Laboratory team and reports directly to the Microbiology Laboratory Operations Manager.
- The scope of this role is to ensure the optimal functioning of the Regional Laboratory.
- The Microbiology Laboratory performs microbiological analyses of raw materials, environmental samples, stability samples, and finished products.
- This Regional Microbiology Laboratory operates 7 days a week
Key Responsibilities
- Physically receive samples for testing and electronically receive and register samples in LIMS
- Perform quality and documentation checks as necessary
- Prepares and maintains documentation and records in accordance with the Regional Laboratory Quality management system and aligned standards
- Reports deviations of analytical equipment through monitoring systems to the Microbiological Operations Manager and/or Senior Analyst
- Operates, manages, and maintains analytical and preparation equipment in optimal operational conditions
- Participates in inventory management, reagents, and consumables to avoid shortages and regularly monitors needs of the regional laboratory
- Participates in equipment and method validation
- Responsible for preparing microbiological media and reagents
- Responsible for decontamination of biohazardous waste
- Capable of conducting the initial stages of analyses (sample receipt and preparation) according to the operational procedures in the laboratory
- Manage document cycling and supports related administrative tasks
- Performs cleaning processes for surfaces, equipment, and utensils as per the frequency established in work instructions
- Carries out environmental monitoring activities according to work instructions
- Comply with Site and Laboratory Health, Safety, and Environment requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Microbiology or related fields
- Need to be able to lift at least 30 lbs
- 0-1 year experience in microbiological laboratories or related fields
- Knowledge of service laboratory routine
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, cross-contamination management/mitigation in laboratories
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Flexibility to change priorities and schedules
- Good communication skills, written and spoken in English
- Strong communication/report writing skills.
