Description Leidos is excited to welcome upcoming and recent graduates to apply for an excellent entry-level System Engineer position. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and innovative training systems designed for the Navy.
As a Junior Linux Systems Engineer, you will engage in various projects involving the design, development, integration, and installation of computer-based training systems that operate on Linux. You will gain hands-on experience throughout the DevSecOps lifecycle, contributing to the entire range of activities from designing and implementing Linux system images to conducting thorough testing and validation before they are delivered to the Navy.
In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will take ownership of your projects, ensuring successful outcomes. This role involves developing and testing systems, integrating multiple components, and validating the performance and functionality of our training systems.
Leidos' High Fidelity Simulation Business Area focuses on crafting large-scale systems solutions that support top-tier simulation and training products for the U.S. Navy.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- U.S. citizenship required with the ability to obtain a DoD interim clearance before starting.
- Proven ability to identify, quantify, and solve complex technical problems.
- Strong proficiency with the Linux operating system (preferably Enterprise Linux, RHEL, or CentOS) or network engineering, specifically with Cisco products.
Required Skills: - Understanding of Linux kernel and operating system initialization.
- Proficiency in using the Linux command line interface.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- A collaborative team player.
Desired Skills: - Experience with COTS hardware design and an understanding of current trends in CPU, memory, and video.
- Knowledge of Cisco network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with BIOS and UEFI systems.
- Reverse engineering skills on Linux systems (OS and software/scripts).
- In-depth understanding of Linux OS management (build, configure, boot).
- Experience with Red Hat Package Manager.
- Server provisioning knowledge using systems such as Cobbler, Foreman, or Docker.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies like KVM, QEMU, and VMWare.
- Experience in cluster system design and management, especially with Cisco UCS.
- Proficiency in Linux scripting, primarily with BASH and Python.
- Familiarity with systems software management like power management in large-scale systems.
- Knowledge of naval systems such as SONAR is a plus.

Pay Range: Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
