ECS is seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer to work in our Fairfax, VA office in a hybrid onsite/remote capacity supporting the Secure Unclassified Network (SUNet) Enterprise. The Junior Cloud Engineer will work as part of a team responsible for designing, developing, installing, documenting, managing, and maintaining a DoD Mission Partner Enclave's physical and virtual infrastructure. The Junior Cloud Engineer will work in a demanding, high-energy environment that requires innovative solutions to network, hardware, software, security, and operational challenges, and will report directly to the Project Manager.
The ideal candidate has a willingness to learn and demonstrates IT system engineering experience; has prior exposure to DoD systems; and demonstrates a solid understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure fundamentals and services. The ideal candidate is also highly adaptable, takes ownership of tasks and deadlines, works efficiently and effectively, and commits to high-quality results.
General Duties:
- Work within the project team to implement and maintain multi-component, cloud-based and hybrid solutions which meet customer and security requirements.
- Implement, and maintain Cloud solutions and new capabilities in AWS.
- Assist in partner network integration, testing, and monitoring.
- Install, configure, maintain, update, manage, and refine information systems.
- Ensure system components maintain compliance with DoD requirements.
- Conduct functional, interoperability, and security testing.
- Implement routine system updates including STIGs, OS and application patching.
- Analyze system performance for potential security problems.
- Participate in technical incident response and security assessment activities.
- Coordinate and/or provide support for all enclave applications and operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- US Citizen.
- Active Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
- 3+ years of experience and proficiency working with Amazon Web Services' cloud services and technologies including, but not limited to: EC2, Storage concepts (S3, RDS, EBS), EKS, VPC, and Security Groups / IAM.
- Proficiency in supporting Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience in supporting Microsoft Active Directory/ AD FS.
- Experience with Cloud networking and troubleshooting (e.g., IP networking, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing).
- Experience with applying STIGs for Windows and Linux endpoints, using the STIG Viewer for reporting.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to confront difficult problems in a positive and creative way.
- Ability to balance multiple, competing priorities and execute accordingly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
