POSITION SUMMARY
Blue Sky is seeking a Part-Time Communications & Policy Assistant (Jr. Business Analyst) to support writing, outreach, and communication-related tasks across various initiatives. This role is ideal for a recent or soon-to-be graduate from a local academic program in Communications, Government, Public Policy, or a related discipline. Candidates with marketing or internship experience and strong written and verbal communication skills are especially encouraged to apply.

This is a remote based, part time, about 10 hours per week position, which allows for relatively flexible hours, but at least half of the 10 weekly hours during business hours when some of the communications that are related to the work may need to occur.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Draft, edit, and format written materials such as memos, briefings, newsletters, and digital content.
  • Assist with research and policy analysis to support communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and tone.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for outreach efforts, events, or campaigns.
  • Support marketing tasks including content development, audience engagement, and basic data tracking.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with writing, editing, and synthesizing complex ideas for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in communications, government, or public service.
  • Familiarity with common writing formats and document types in professional environments.
  • Located in or eligible under HubZone requirements.
HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS
  • Internship or academic experience in a communications, policy, or marketing role.
  • Experience creating or editing content for newsletters, blogs, or social media.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or basic content management tools.
CERTIFICATIONS
  • None required. Writing, communication, or marketing-related coursework or certifications are a plus.
EDUCATION
  • Current enrollment in or recent completion of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Policy, Government, Marketing, or a related field.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Primarily a remote role, requiring consistent internet access and regular online communication.
  • Must be able to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively across teams.
